The Flora Platter from the Boscoreale Collection is inspired by the eponymous collection on display at the Louvre Museum, an exceptional example of silver from antiquity discovered in the area of Pompeii and adorned with lush figurative details of floral motifs and skeletons of ancient poets. These details related to Epicureanism, a philosophy which asserts that the pursuit of knowledge and pleasure are the paths to tranquility in the face of the ephemeral nature of our world. Here, the Franchi workshop reinterprets this legendary collection with a contemporary, geometric aesthetic that maintains the thematic integrety of the works in allusions to floral and skeletal forms. The Flora platter takes its name from the tulip and daisy forms handcrafted in repoussè on the impressive sterling silver plate.
