Excellence, Expertise, Elegance

This Spring, our co-founders had the pleasure of attending The European Fine Art Fair in Maastricht which represents the finest art available for purchase from over 7000 years of art history. Among the natural beauty of thousands of Dutch tulips, rare and beautiful manmade treasures competed for our attention on opening day. From Old Masters masterpieces such as the intricately detailed scenes by Canaletto to marble 2nd century Roman antiquities, TEFAF is a temporary museum where the entire collection is for sale.

Collecting Trends

The market for these top tier works is on the rise, affirmed by the research Dr. Clare McAndrew, leading cultural economist specialising in the fine and decorative art market and founder of Art Economics. Her highly anticipated yearly assessment of the global art market is published in collaboration with TEFAF.

"This year’s TEFAF Art Market Report shows that in 2014 the global art market reached its highest ever-recorded level, a total of just over €51 billion worldwide, a 7% year-on-year increase taking it above the 2007 pre-recession level of €48 billion."

While the leading collectors remain few in number, the report also noted an increasing trend in online sales, which is making the market for exceptional collectibles and works of art accessible to everyone. All of us at Manimenti are proud to be a part of this trend of democratizing the market and introducing today's best artisans, contemporary masters, to an international audience that values authenticity. At the same time, we are delighted to help train a new generation of art patrons in the art of connoisseurship.

We enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with partners and friends at TEFAF, and would like to give public thanks to the legendary dealer and aesthetics guru Axel Vervoordt for his gift to us, a signed catalogue of one of the best art exhibitions of our generation, TRA at Palazzo Fortuny. Our compliments go out to friends at the galleries Cardi, Moretti, Charles Ede, Bacarelli Botticelli, Tornabuoni, Eberwein for their exceptional offerings as well as the brilliant young team behind Vastari Exhibition Connection. Until next year!
